We're passionate about keeping our neighborhood's pets healthy.
Boulevard Veterinary was founded in Chicago by Dr. Dylan Frederickson in the Logan Square neighborhood in 2015. Two years later, BLVD Vet expanded to River North, opening a second full-service practice location that prides itself on the same high standards of care.
We believe that really listening to our client's concerns about their pets is the foundation of providing intuitive veterinary care. Our doctors provide unhurried, thorough exams to make sure that no question goes unanswered. We also try to get a sense your pet's lifestyle and specific needs so that we can make sensible long term choices about topics like vaccines, diet, behavior and dental care.
Meet the Team
Dr. Dylan Frederickson
Dr. Frederickson (aka Dr. Dylan) found his calling to be a veterinarian while growing up on his family's small dairy farm in central Wisconsin. The Frederickson Family Farm has been in the family for over 100 years and continues to operate today.
As a boy, Dr. Dylan often had to assist the large animal veterinarians that served the family farm. Watching and assisting them perform surgery on a standing cow was a true thrill (though not so for his dad, footing the bill).
Dr. Dylan attended college at The University of Minnesota - Twin Cities and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine.
Having lived for some time in Logan Square, Dr. Dylan decided it was the perfect place to put down some roots and found his own veterinary practice. He did so in 2014 naming it "Boulevard Veterinary" as a nod to the historic Boulevard system that passes through Logan Square as it rings Chicago.
Following strong growth of the practice in Logan Square, Dr. Dylan decided to expand Boulevard Veterinary's reach by opening a second location for the practice downtown in River North--another pet-friendly Chicago neighborhood rich in history.
When not working on BLVD Vet, Dr. Dylan likes running on the 606, reading, spending time with his wife Kelly, their pets Woody (a Cavalier King Charles) and Smokey-Panther (a former barn-kitten plucked from a pile of straw on the family farm). He and Kelly like supporting their neighborhood restaurants, traveling when they can, and of course going up North to the family farm back where it all began. Dr. Dylan is a devoted Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan and hopes native Chicagoans won't hold that against him.
Dr. Julie Geisler
Medical Director - Logan Square
Dr. Julie Geisler is a fun-loving Philadelphia native who has brought her passion and expertise in veterinary medicine to the Windy City. A heavy dose of science class combined with her love of animals drove her to pursue a doctorate in veterinary medicine. Dr. Geisler graduated summa cum laude from Saint Mary's College with a B.S. in Biology in 2010. Four years later, she earned her DVM at Purdue University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
After veterinary school, Dr. Geisler got married and moved to Chicago to start work at a busy clinic in the suburbs. During her tenure she learned from great mentors and saw a diverse caseload. She also became certified in animal chiropractic which furthered her interests in chronic pain management.
Since accepting the position at Boulevard, Dr. Geisler has moved to Logan Square with her husband and yellow Labrador, Thumper, and is enjoying the neighborhood to its fullest. In her free time she enjoys visiting family on the East Coast and cheering on her Fighting Irish at football games.
Dr. Andrew Bean
Veterinarian - Logan Square
Dr. Andrew Bean originally comes to us from Pennsylvania, very close to another one of the Great Lakes, Lake Erie. Dr. Bean initially pursued a career in the human medical field but found veterinary medicine more to his liking since it was able to combine his love for animals and high quality medicine. Since he decided to make the switch, he has worked in nearly all levels of the veterinary field during his undergraduate and graduate studies. Dr. Bean earned his B.S. at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania and his DVM at The Ohio State University, and has since become a fervent Buckeye fan.
Dr. Bean comes from a background in both small animal general practice and emergency medicine with particular interests in soft tissue surgery, dermatology, and feline medicine. He believes strongly in a scientific approach to treatment and the importance of educating pet owners in addition to making them partners in their pet's health.
He is thrilled to now be in Chicago with his rescue cat, Zelda. When not in the clinic Dr. Bean loves being near the water and likes to spend as much time on the lake as possible. You can find him on the beaches or exploring the many Chicago neighborhoods and he is always looking for new and fun places in the city to visit.
Dr. Ashley Peters
Veterinarian - Logan Square
Dr. Ashley Peters is a Chicago-land native. She grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, where she spent her younger years collecting a small zoo's worth of animals at home (dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, horses, fish, you name it!) She grew up riding and training horses, and spent every second at the barn that she could.
Dr. Peters attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign for both undergrad and veterinary school. She went in thinking she was going to become an equine vet, but soon found her love for small animal medicine and the ability to form a close bond with both her patients and their owners. After graduation, Dr. Peters worked at a busy small animal practice in the North Shore where she saw a diverse caseload.
Dr. Peters enjoys many areas of veterinary medicine, but particularly enjoys dermatology, internal medicine, and dentistry. She strongly believes in client education and communication and hopes to empower owners to make the best health decisions for their pets.
In her free time, Dr. Peters enjoys reading and baking, exploring the city and its many restaurants with her husband, horseback riding as much as possible, and spending time with her fur babies Casey an Irish Setter and her two kitties Sadie and Sunny.
Dr. Tyler Williams
Veterinarian - River North
Hailing from Chicagoland clinics, Dr. Tyler Williams joined Boulevard Vet in 2017 with roughly ten years of general veterinary experience. His focus on preventative welfare and evidenced-based treatment are witnessed by his high standard for care of every patient.
Dr. Williams takes particular interest in surgery and promoting longevity through proper nutrition. Dr. Williams’ grandparents were Wisconsinite farmers, allowing for regular interaction with animals of all sizes while growing up. This prefaced Dr. Williams’ grade school involvement in groups like 4H and FFA, where he took part in animal husbandry. In earnest, Dr. Williams confirmed his life’s calling in 6th grade, when he rescued a baby bunny from becoming the neighborhood cat’s lunch. Much to his dismay, he didn’t get to keep the bunny as his pet, but the gratification he felt in caring for animals served as the basis for a future career in veterinary science. After a pre-collegiate job at the vet clinic in town, Dr. Williams went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences (2004) and DVM (2008) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
In his free time, Dr. Williams and his wife, Sara, are typically busy keeping up with their four-year-old daughter, Mila, who recently requested her first pet fish. He also takes particular interest in sports and can often be found on a field -- or watching a field -- when not at work. An avid Badgers, Packers, and Cubs fan, Dr. Williams also enjoys playing soccer, weight training, obstacle courses, and the occasional triathlon.
Dr. Josie Arbogast
Veterinarian - River North
Dr. Josie Arbogast is an Indianapolis native, where her love of all animals- both big and small, developed at a very young age on her grandparent’s farm. Much to her mother's chagrin, Dr. Arbogast was notorious as a youngster for bringing home every stray animal she could find. As a freshman in high school, she got a job at the local neighborhood veterinary clinic, where she quickly realized that a career as a veterinarian would be a perfect fit to fulfill her passion for both medicine and animal welfare.
Dr. Arbogast graduated magna cum laude from the University of Dayton with a B.S. in Biochemistry. She then went on to complete her D.V.M. with honors at (The) Ohio State University— go bucks!
Dr. Arbogast is passionate about many aspects of veterinary medicine, but in particular values the ability to help strengthen the human-animal bond. She loves that her job works to ensure the health and well being of her patients as well as educate clients so that the relationship between owners and their furry family members can reach its full potential.
When not practicing at BLVD, you can find Dr. Arbogast enjoying any and all outdoor activities/sports, checking off her travel bucket list, making her way through Chicago's vast array of eateries (new suggestions welcome!), and spending time with her Great Dane, Lucca.
Dr. Aracely Cordes
Dr. Aracely Cordes is very excited to join the BLVD team and appreciates the exceptional client experience and high-quality medicine provided. Her parents recognized her love for animals and studious manner early on and encouraged her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Iowa State and DVM from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She enjoys educating students interested in the veterinary field and has given many presentations to classrooms and zoo camps.
Dr. Cordes is from Oak Lawn and from a family of educators in CPS. Education is incredibly important to her and believes client education and communication are vital for formulating the best medical plan for patients. She very much appreciates all aspects of veterinary medicine including internal medicine, surgery, and most of all dentistry. Being able to provide high quality care using digital dental x-rays and efficiency to decrease anesthesia time are very important to her.
She resides in Logan Square with her husband, Justin, 2 kids Maddie and Mason, 2 senior golden retrievers, Mac and Miller and 1 cat, Tom. When not practicing veterinary medicine, she enjoys heading to concerts with her husband, taking the kids to Lucy Flower Park or Humboldt Park, dogs to Doggy Paddle for swimming, walking on the 606, traveling (usually in an RV nowadays), and going to brunch. 90 miles, Parson’s, Ipsento and Bang Bang are at the top of her list but always appreciates suggestions!
She is also bilingual and would love to engage Spanish speaking clients in order to provide the best quality, communication, and care.
