Dr. Val Ivanina

Ravenswood

Veterinarian

Bio

Dr. Ivanina was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the US with her family when she was 3 years old. They settled in Brooklyn, NY. She left the city to move upstate to attend Cornell University for her Bachelor’s degree. It wasn't until the end of undergrad that she became seriously interested in becoming a veterinarian. To gain more veterinary experience, she took a job at the clinic where her family had taken their dog for many years. She ended up working there for 5 years, gaining a ton of hands-on experience while also working on veterinary school prerequisites. She started veterinary school at the University of Illinois in August 2019 and graduated in May 2023. She enjoys most topics in veterinary medicine, particularly ophthalmology, genetics, surgery, small animal reproduction, and preventative medicine. Dr. Ivanina and her partner have two sassy pets who tolerate one another: a long coat chihuahua named Bruno and a cat named Cosima. She also enjoys going to concerts and stand-up comedy shows. She really likes going out in nature & being out on the water - especially kayaking & hiking.
