BLVD Vet: Local and Independent

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

We use the BLVD Core Values to guide us in all that we do and are able to do so because we proudly remain locally owned & independent! Why does this matter?

AVMA research shows that 40-50% of practices are now owned by corporations.1 Large corporate ownership comes with the burden of considering investors and stock owner interests, which often boils down to prioritizing profit margins. Increasingly, we’re seeing the consolidation of once independent practices into larger, corporate umbrellas, which may not be entirely obvious as many are choosing to keep their original practice names.

As a company independently owned by a local veterinarian, Boulevard Veterinary is better able to understand and prioritize choices that are most meaningful to our neighborhood clients, patients and our team. We believe it’s why we’ve been able to continue to provide the strong relationships you’ve come to expect with our team and the quality care we’re known for!

Here are a few examples of how we’ve continued to follow our Core Values.

Best Patient and Client Care

We are thrilled to share that our Ravenswood practice is officially AAHA accredited! Only 15% of veterinary hospitals in the U.S. and Canada have met their rigorous standards of excellence. To become AAHA accredited, our practices are evaluated for approximately 900 standards of veterinary care established by AAHA veterinary experts. We had BLVD Vet Ravenswood inspected, standard operating procedures reviewed and medical records evaluated for thoroughness.

“It's an awesome and exciting accomplishment for the BLVD family! Passing the AAHA accreditation evaluation means the practice is successfully following the important guidelines in current veterinary care standards. We are going above the required standards of educational programs for our staff and exceeding expectations for people’s needs in regards to their pets,” says BLVD Practice Manager, Ashli Bennett.

Lifetime Professional Growth

We are pleased to be expanding our financial support of Veterinary Technicians seeking to obtain their Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) license! We are offering to pay for education costs up to $8,000, removing the financial burden it takes to pursue certification and encouraging our passionate animal lovers to make this a lifelong career.

A huge priority for us is encouraging growth for each and every team member. We want to see them thrive and are happy to help support it with this newest initiative!

Vibrant and Clean Facilities

Having vibrant and clean facilities is a Core Value we hold near and dear to our hearts. Yes, we love seeing a sparkly clean practice with the most up-to-date technology, however we also look at this as a chance to partner with other local businesses. We’d like to thank the following:

Right Way Signs: They keep our practices outfitted with iconic hand-painted windows, facades, gold leaf details and blade signs! We take great pride in working with this family-owned, small business that has serviced Chicago for over 50 years.

Urban Street Window Works: USWW keep our windows shining! It’s an added pleasure that their techs provide a pleasant and friendly experience every time.

And of course the incomparable Studio Malt for our design needs! Studio Malt is a true local in all that they do which helps us stay connected to our communities through our brand and design. We could not do it without their creativity!

Dedication to Community

This March 2021 marked our most successful fundraiser ever! With the help of our team, clients and followers we were able to raise over $2,000 for ALIVE Rescue at the 2021 Shelter Shiver!

For those who are not familiar, once a year ALIVE Rescue hosts a fundraiser event at Lake Michigan in the middle of winter. People voluntarily plunge into the freezing cold water to raise money for pets. Our team rallied to get as many donations as possible before the big day where we plunged into Lake Michigan!

Thank you so much to those who plunged, donated and showed support for our biggest fundraiser yet.

It brings us great joy to share these updates and we know that they are all made possible by the support of our clients and our communities! We will continue to weave our Core Values in all that we do.

Sincerely,

The BLVD Team
