Bio
Dr. Plourde is originally from Minnesota, but has lived in Chicagoland since he was in elementary school. After high school, he moved back to his home state and went to college at St. Cloud State University. That's where he figured out he wanted to be a veterinarian and decided to move to the beautiful island of Grenada to attend St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine.
After 3 years in paradise, he moved back to Minnesota to complete his clinical rotations (4th year of vet school) at the University of Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating vet school, he made his way back to Illinois to complete a small animal rotating internship program in Aurora and Berwyn. This is where he met his beautiful wife before they settled down in Chicago where he has been practicing small animal medicine for the last decade.
His favorite thing about practicing veterinary medicine is improving the quality of life of a pet in need; especially providing life-changing dental surgery. He finds improving the oral health of his patients very rewarding because it can relieve painful conditions and can add years of good quality of life. He grew up in a home of dogs, rabbits, birds, rats, hamsters, ferrets, and fish. He and his wife share their home with their lovable but fierce Italian Greyhound Chihuahua mix named LeeLoo aka Chilly, and two cuddly cats Choanae and Mr. T.
